What is the Drovers Campfire?
The Drovers Campfire is a community-run festival at Boggabri – celebrating the Australian outback spirit, heritage, and mateship — featuring live music, local tours, bush poetry, camp fires, damper making, markets, and family entertainment such as whip cracking, billy boiling and line dancing etc.
When and where is the event held?
The event is held annually in Boggabri NSW in the last weekend in April annually at the Boggabri Showground.
Who runs the Drovers Campfire?
The event is proudly organised by the Boggabri Lions Club with help from local / visiting lions volunteers, local volunteers and community groups.
Tickets and Entry
How do I buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online via the official event page or at the gate on arrival (subject to availability).
Is camping included in the ticket price?
Camping is included in the full weekend ticket price – powered and unpowered depending on availability. Prices are per van and not per person. Day visitors are welcome but must purchase a day pass.
Are refunds available if I can’t attend?
Refunds are available if required prior to event. Please check the refund policy on our website or contact the organisers directly.
Where is the main point of contact during the event?
The information centre is very visible in the centre of the showground – it will have all information and be suitable for all transactions. Open from 8am – 5pm, Friday – Sunday.
Camping and Facilities
What facilities are available for campers?
Powered and unpowered sites, hot showers, toilets, firewood and potable water are available at the showground. Limited sites — early bookings are recommended. We ask campers to respect the facilities and keep them tidy. Any issues can be reported to the information centre.
Is water available to purchase onsite?
Yes for $5 a delivery – our water cart can come and assist with any necessary water needs.
Is there a dump point onsite?
The closest dump point is at the gate of Jubilee Oval, Boggabri on Rees Avenue – the information centre can offer a map.
Can I bring my caravan, motorhome, or tent?
Yes! All camping setups are welcome.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but they must be kept under control at all times and are not allowed in food or entertainment areas. Pets are not allowed on tours but can be secured at the campsites.
Can I have a campfire at my site?
Yes, small contained fires are permitted (weather permitting). Please follow fire safety rules and bring your own fire pit. Firewood can be purchased from the information centre.
What are some of the best ways to avoid an emergency?
Prevention is paramount. Avoid trip hazards such as power cords, Report any broken or damaged facilities, Have an escape place for your caravan and know the evacuation procedure. Check gas connections after driving, Be careful with heaters and other electrical/gas appliances, Dispose of cigarettes responsibly.
Food and Drink
Will food and drinks be available for purchase?
Yes, there will be a variety of food stalls, coffee vans, and the Lions Club BBQ. You’re also welcome to cook your own meals at your campsite.
Is alcohol permitted?
BYO is permitted at campsites, but please drink responsibly.
Activities and Entertainment
What entertainment can we expect?
Live music from top country acts, bush poetry, camp oven cook-off, comedy hypnotist act, children’s activities, competitions such as whip cracking, billy boiling, the annual Cox’s Creek Cup Yabby race and market stalls across the weekend.
Are there activities for kids?
Yes! Kids can enjoy games, tours, markets, and family-friendly entertainment throughout the event.
What is the Camp Oven Cook-off?
A highlight of the weekend where participants compete in traditional camp oven cooking — judged on taste, presentation, and originality.
Accessibility and Safety
Is the event accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes, accessible parking, toilets, and flat terrain make it suitable for visitors of all abilities.
What happens in case of bad weather?
The event runs rain, hail, or shine! Some activities may move under cover or be adjusted as needed. We are amazing problem solvers but cannot always fix everything – but we always try our best!
Who do I contact for emergencies or assistance during the event?
Event marshalls and Lions Club volunteers will be available onsite — or contact the main information centre.
